Pursuant to Article 66 section 4 of the above Regulation, the manufacturers and importers may use the European Technical Approvals granted in accordance with Article 9 of the Directive 89/106/EEC before 1st July 2013 as the European Technical Assessments until the lapse of validity of those approvals.
The European Technical Assessments are voluntary documents without time limit and are issued for the following products:
- not covered by the harmonised European standard (hEN)
- not fully covered by the harmonised European standard, i.e. in the case when performance of the product in relation to its fundamental characteristics cannot be fully assessed according to hEN (assessment method in relation to at least one fundamental characteristic is not suitable or does not exist).
The European Technical Assessments are reference documents for placing these products with CE marking on the common European market after assessment and verification of constancy of performances and drawing up a declaration of performance by the producer.
