Short description:

the main goal of the research project was to develop and implement in practice a clear, verified method for assessing and designing buildings that meet the criteria of sustainable development, taking into account methodological differences in existing systems, in particular: LEED, BREEAM, SB TOOL and DGNB. The new method was to be publicly available on the Internet. It was planned to verify it in practice in countries not participating in the project and through cooperation with another FP7 project called SuperBuildings. The effect of the project was the creation of an open technological platform defining the rules for performing environmental analyses of buildings and increasing the ecological awareness of all entities participating in the construction market, with particular emphasis on the GPP green public procurement practice. ITB has developed criteria and procedures for determining sustainable development aspects for buildings, making calculations of actual buildings. It was also intended to implement the results of OPEN HOUSE in Eastern European countries.

Detailed goals of the project:

  • defining a sustainable construction platform open to all and transparent,
  • wide dissemination of the developed model and creation of a model of interaction between project participants and, in the future, promotion of a specific approach in broad European activities,
  • construction of the OPEN-HOUSE platform: substantively moderating the European Commission's policy in the field of sustainable construction,
  • development of the method and its validation based on the results of implementations,
  • ensuring further continuation of the project idea in the European construction sector.
